The fresh water source in the middle of the desert focused man's interest since early times. Nomads used to water their herds, Christian hermits contemplated in this far and isolated place and the settlers of the nearby kibbutz Sde-Boker pumped spring water, in first days, for daily use. Nowdays the place atracts mainly tourists, hikers and visitors as a refreshing nature experience on their tour in the Negev. Scientists of the Institute for Desert Research are researching the secrets of this unique Ecosystem.
